Summary
Engineering design is a process. It involves problem-solving and researching, brainstorming and building, testing and improving, and using creative thinking to find practical applications for scientific discoveries. In this course, you will experience the "human side" of engineering. You will tackle a series of building challenges designed to get you thinking about ways that thoughtful design can improve the lives of people with physical disabilities. You will also meet engineers and students at UW–Madison who are doing incredible work in types of engineering that may be new to you, such as biomedical and transportation engineering. After two weeks of collaborating with others to create working models of your best ideas for enriching the lives of others, you may never look at the world the same way again.
