Program
Summary
This course is designed to introduce students to the basic elements of acting and, at the same time, discuss what theatre can do for human rights, and rights for theatre. Students will engage in class discussions, creative exercises, short-form scene work, monologue coaching, play reading and short articles that address the topic of human rights from a global perspective. Students will be introduced to theatre of testimony, documentary theatre and contemporary/modern works.
Student profile
This course is designed for those interested in acting, theatre and how this field interacts with human rights and society. This course is run in partnership with Theatre and Drama and the School of Education at UW–Madison.
