Summary
The fate of the world can be signed in Versailles, argued in New York and written by even the smallest of nations. International law is far from a tedious study of diplomatic theory, and the topics covered in this class will challenge you to understand the complexity of the legal and sociopolitical consequences that define contemporary society. This course will examine the relationships of the major players within the infrastructure of the global legal system, considering the implications of things like binding contracts and treaties. Students will study a broad spectrum of international subject areas including human rights, national security, environmental protection and trade policies and use their findings in lively simulations of negotiating and drafting treaties.
Student profile
All ALP students are advised to bring a personal laptop computer for use in class and the evening session.
