This course will explore the human form and its relationship with disease, offering a strong focus on medicine and clinical applications. You'll also study the major organ systems, investigating how cells, tissues, and organs function together to maintain homeostasis. Building on this foundation, you'll then explore pathology—the study of disease—to understand what happens when normal biological processes are disrupted. You’ll see how the immune system fights infections, and explore the critical roles that genetics and environmental factors play in influencing health and disease progression. This is a hands-on, investigative science course where learning goes beyond lecture by offering experiences like dissections, clinical case studies, and medical simulations. Through group research projects, students will grow essential skills in critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and applying concepts to real-world biomedical scenarios.
