Summary

The Law course offers an exciting introduction to the American legal system and the role it plays in our everyday lives. Through real-world case studies, students will explore how laws are made, interpreted, and applied, while examining the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. Along the way, we'll investigate both criminal and civil law and consider how courts help resolve conflicts and protect individual rights. Through courtroom simulations, group discussions, games, hands-on activities, guest speakers, and field trips, students will step into the roles of lawyers, judges, and jurors as they tackle legal questions and defend their ideas. Whether arguing a case, analyzing evidence, or debating important issues, participants will strengthen their critical-thinking, communication, teamwork, and leadership skills while gaining a deeper understanding of the law and its impact on society.

Note: We offer a Law course for both sessions of STEP. Each course can be taken individually or in combination with each other as they will explore different material, concepts, builds and projects. Students considering participating in both sessions of STEP could take Engineering courses both weeks to have more in-depth exposure to this fascinating subject!

Student profile

Each session will feature the same curriculum, so students participating in both weeks should pick a different class for their additional session.
