Upcoming dates (1)

For registration assistance: 608-890-3260

Summary

What are the intersections between the economy and society? How is our daily life as citizens and consumers affected by economic ideas and policies? How do citizens, businesses and governments use their economic power to shape society? What ethical considerations should be taken into account in economic decision-making, and how can economics contribute to social justice? In this class, we will explore economic concepts and theories through the lens of social life. Rather than learning about the economy through abstract ideas, we will examine specific examples of how and why people enact economic policies, and how people at all levels of society experience the effects of those policies. We will use case studies and current event topics to guide our study of how various groups of people employ and experience economics in their daily lives.
